Today is Get Organized Day πŸ—ƒ

I have always enjoyed organizing and creating a home for things. Even as a kid, I wanted bins and containers to store my things. πŸ˜† #nerdalert

It’s oddly satisfying and calming when I know exactly where to find that thing and where to put it back.

One less thing to use your brain for, right?

Here are my top tips for simple organizing:

πŸ“Ž Pick one space, drawer or zone to start with. Avoid organizing multiple spaces at once
πŸ“Ž Start by taking everything out of the space and sorting by category
πŸ“Ž If something doesn’t belong in the space, place those items in a box or pile and deal with them later to avoid starting another organizing project at that time πŸ˜‰
πŸ“Ž The focus should be to get rid of excess, duplicates and things you no longer use. Start piles for toss, recycle and donate
πŸ“Ž once your things are sorted, determine how they might live in the space (drawer, closet, etc.)
πŸ“Ž If you have extra buns, baskets, shoe boxes on hand, use them to play around with how to organize things in the space
πŸ“Ž Measure and make a list of what additional storage bins you may need
πŸ“Ž Best places to find budget-friendly storage options: Dollar stores, Aldi, Home Goods, Marshall’s, Amazon and Target.
πŸ“Ž Think of this like a puzzle, it may take a few tries to find the right bins for your things and the space.
πŸ“Ž Keep an open mind about where things should live. Just because a certain item has always lived in the hall closet, does not mean it’s the best spot for it. Think of how YOU use your space and home.

Happy Organizing! πŸ₯³
